                  The Sta. Rita Hills
Winegrowers Alliance held its 2nd "occasional" Wine & Fire event on June 22, 23 and 24, 2007. The Sta. Rita Hills is a relatively small appellation of approximately 100 square miles. Intersected by the Santa Ynez River, the cool climate appellation is located between the towns of Buellton and Lompoc in Santa Barbara County, California. The Sta. Rita Hills Winegrowers Alliance includes both vineyards located within the geographical boundaries of the appellation, and those who craft wines from grapes grown here.
The Saturday event was held in a secluded canyon, and consisted of 4 tasting seminars where winemakers discussed their particular approach to Chardonay and Pinot Noir. And the day was capped by a huge BBQ lunch. Thankfully, GrapeRadio was there for the entire weekend to get interviews with winemakers and attendees, so stay tuned for our shows. Several Open Houses were held on Sunday to complete the weekend.
